Laibach, Video report OC-TV.net

Laibach, former name of the city of Ljubjana, was created in the early eighties by a band of young students, accompanied by a number of other Slovene artists. Initiator of a martial industrial music with a violent imagery and guttural vocals, the band has become a reference in the field of electronic music and has always included classical elements in its compositions. « Nova Akropola », « Opus Dei », « Macbeth » or « Krst Pod Triglavom-Baptism » are all masterpieces which have imposed a unique sound. Highly conceptual, their music has used the military or totalitarian aesthetics to emphasize the dictatorship hidden behind popular culture and mass production. Thus, they have joyfully parodied songs like « Life is Life », « the Final Countdown » or The Beatles and the Rolling Stones. Laibach was in Toulouse at the Havana Club to present their two last records, « Volk », inspired by the national anthems of each country, and « Wat », explosive mixture of techno/EBM and powerful rhythms. We met Ivan Novak, spokesman of Laibach, to come back on the career of the most famous of bands from Slovenia. Maxime Lachaud.
